A tailored suit cut from fabric I designed and silk screen printed by hand. The pattern is a complex repeated design featuring invisible illnesses affecting people close to me. Printed in invisible ink, these illnesses only become visible under UV light.
The suit was part of a performance piece I wore for the opening of Sick! exhibition, giving people UV torches so they could examine the suit in the same way a doctor examines a patient. At the end of the performance I took the suit off and hung it on the wall, shedding the armour to show my vulnerability.
(Whilst working on the print I discovered a mistake, specifically the spelling of endometriosis. I could have changed this but decided to deliberately keep the mistake, learning to accept this work is finished but flawed, not quite right as I have learned to live with a body that is flawed by illness.)
