This piece represents the burden of invisible illness – being ill, but looking well. A paradox for the desire to live a ‘normal’ life and for people to understand that you are in fact unwell without explanation versus the demands (from the authorities and strangers) to constantly prove your condition.
Made from found pigeon wings encased in beeswax then restrained with jute twine. In the bottom of the antique case are the ashes from a burned PIP (Personal Independence Payment) assessment form.
